What a day for celebrating the joy of outdoor fresh air activity, aka Friluftsliv! It was not only quality but quantity as skiers knocked it out of the park in kilometers skied, costumes flaunted, dollars raised and fun items scavenged. Last year Kevin Koch led the field with 55 K’s skied and there was a total of 361.16 K’s skied by the group. Kevin outdid himself this year racking up 64.5 K’s while the group skied a stunning 890.2 kilometers! Talk about maximizing on a gorgeous day! Egor Gavrilov added 56 K’s, Matt Rothrock 52.1 and Christie Aschwanden led the women with 50.4.
There were two families all decked out that won the costume awards while particularly styling were our volunteers Nike VanArsdale, Sherrion Taylor and Laura Lenihan. John Traylor got the vintage equipment award and also was far and away the top fund raiser. Our ops budget has been nicely enhanced by everyone’s efforts.
A big shout out goes to our Friluftsliv sponsors Starr’s Guitars and Nike VanArsdale with ReMax, for the delicious soup from Lost Mesa Grill and for great prizes from Stoney Mesa Winery.
