Volunteers make up the backbone of GMNC. We could not do what we do without our generous volunteers.
In the 2023/24 season volunteers donated over 1400 hours of service to the organization doing trail maintenance, assisting at social events and races, and working as Trail Ambassadors. We would love to have you join our team!

Volunteer to help with Trail Maintenance.
Each fall GMNC staff and volunteers spend time on the trails clearing brush and downed trees, repairing poles and posts, and replacing diamonds marking the trails.
Volunteer to help with Outreach Tables & Social Events.
Throughout the season, we hold outreach tables and social events (including our Full Moon Skis, Family Fun Day, etc.) at our trailheads and couldn’t do it without the help of volunteers. At these events, volunteers assist with membership renewals and sign-ups, field questions on the GMNC and trail etiquette, serve hot chocolate, and, in general, create a welcoming, inclusive environment for all trail-users.
Volunteer to help with our Race Series.
Each season we host a race series at Skyway Trailhead starting in December and ending in March. We rely heavily on the help of volunteers to assist with timing and record-keeping, staffing the registration table, serving post-race soup and hot chocolate, and occasionally assisting on the course.
Volunteer as a GMNC Trail Ambassador.
We are currently seeking volunteers to serve as Trail Ambassadors for GMNC. Ambassadors are a team of skiers and snowshoers that represent the friendly face of GMNC out on the trails. The role of the ambassador is to make trail users feel welcome and gently encourage everyone to follow the rules and use proper etiquette to ensure everyone has a good time. Ambassadors are not a “policing” force, but rather educate the public about GMNC’s grooming operations and programs and help cultivate a supportive community out on our trails. Ambassadors receive a one-hour training session and a GMNC ID tag and are asked to sign up for two “shifts” per season.
