Above is a sketch of the Skyway Station. (The actual building will be less brown than in this sketch, which does not reflect all the external colors.) The top section (ground level at Skyway parking lot) is the community space, and the sunken lower level is the Sled Shed, where we will store our snowcat and snowmobiles.
We just had a very productive meeting with the Forest Service about Skyway Station, and we’re submitting the 60% design plans to them this month. We remain on track to break ground next spring/summer (as soon as the ground has thawed), and we just need to complete the final stage of fundraising to make this a go for this summer, with completion next winter.

Skyway Station isn’t only about the wonderful community space (but let’s be honest, that’s going to be awesome, right?). It’s also a way to protect our equipment and help it run better. We had to replace a starter in the snowcat this week, because so many cold starts had destroyed the previous one. Having a shelter to protect and warm (and plug in) the snowcat will make a world of difference. The Skyway Station will help us keep the snowcat running in cold weather and reduce the number of late starts due to frigid temps.
