Marilyn Kastens, Board Member at Large
Despite growing up in Virginia and Oklahoma, Marilyn became an avid skier when she moved to Craig, Colorado, in 1984. There she learned the freedom of backcountry skiing and brought that love with her to Grand Junction in 1990. On the Grand Mesa, she discovered the challenge of classic and skate skiing and has been hooked ever since. She remembers the days when skate skiers depended upon erratic and unknown (before the internet!) snowmobile-grooming by a burgeoning Grand Mesa Nordic Council. Now, after working 40 years as an ecologist/soil scientist, Marilyn is in a position to support that same Nordic Council as a volunteer. She hopes to see you on the trail!
